missed the club’s start to pre-season as he was in quarantine in London but now that he has completed the period of self-isolation, he is going to start his first training session on Thursday at Lennoxtown.

The 55-year-old met with chief executive Dom McKay last week in London to begin preparing for the new season, although, many players are yet to return from international duty.

The Australian will have 12 days to work with the squad before they leave for the pre-season training camp in Wales on July 5.

The

Scottish Premiership

runners-up’s first competitive game under Postecoglou is against Danish Superliga runners-up FC Midtjylland in the Champions League second qualifying round on July 20 at Celtic Park, with the second leg eight days later.

They will also open their Scottish Premiership season against Hearts on July 31.

Leigh Griffiths

, whose contract expires at the end of the month, has admitted that Postecoglou is keen to keep him on.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, Griffiths said:

"I spoke to the manager last week and he is keen to keep me on.

"We are looking for a deal to be done and hopefully it can be done in the next few days."

The 30-year-old Scotland striker was not able to make it to Euro 2020. He has also only started seven Premiership games last season.
