Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has heaped praise on Luis Suarez as the Uruguayan striker scored a dramatic late winner to help his side fight back to beat Osasuna 2-1 on Sunday night.

Atleti's hopes of landing a first La Liga title in seven years seemed to be dealt a blow in Sunday's clash at the Wanda Metropolitano when

Ante Budimir

put mid-table

in front.

But they managed to turn things around, with Brazilian left-back

Renan Lodi

scoring a brilliant equalizer in the 82nd-minute.

Then with just two minutes of normal time remaining, former

Luis Suarez

fired home from inside the box to put

2-1 up.

After the match,

Diego Simeone

was full of praise for the 34-year-old striker.

“He is always there. He gives us leadership and who better than him (Suarez) to solve a game that we could have lost without him,”

Simeone told a post-match interview with

“We will prepare with the same enthusiasm for the final day as we have done since I arrive in 2011.

“The team will be fierce and I want the fans to continue to feel proud of what we have done.”

The victory means Simeone’s side now travel to

Real Valladolid

in their final game knowing that a win will clinch the title.
