Zidane: ‘We deserved the victory’

Zinedine Zidane was happy with their 4-1 win over Granada on Thursday evening.

needed to win the game against Granda in

La Liga

on Thursday evening if they wanted to remain in the title race as Atletico Madrid had been able to win over Real Sociedad.

Now with their 4-1 win at Los Carmenes,

’s side are just two points behind Atletico with two games left and are also two points clear of Barcelona and four points clear of Sevilla.

Luka Modric was able to score the opener in the 17th minute and then Rodrygo scored the second goal two minutes into stoppage time at the end of the first half.

Although Jorge Molina was able to score Granada’s first goal in the 71st minute, Alvaro Odriozola responded quickly and scored Madrid’s third goal four minutes later. Karim Benzema then added the fourth a minute later.

“We deserved the victory. Miguel played because neither Ferland nor Marcelo were there and he did great. I’m happy for him. He’s a Madrid player. [Marcelo] had an annoyance and we didn’t want to risk it. There’s nothing else.”
