Marcelo travels to London after being released from election duty

in the Blancos' lineup as the French left-back was sidelined due to injury. The Brazilian defender was required to remain in Madrid on May 4 to assist with the local election, meaning he could miss out on the second leg. However, according to

, an old lady has offered to replace Marcelo in the polling station so that he can travel to London with the rest of the team.

Marcelo, who was granted Spanish citizenship in 2011, was selected for polling station duty on April 5. Real Madrid’s initial appeal to the Electoral Commission was declined, but the player is now ready to feature in his team's upcoming Champions League battle.
