Barcelona on alert as Xavi Hernandez parts ways with Al Sadd

Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez will not have his contract renewed as manager of Al Sadd and is set to leave the Qatari club at the end of the season.

The Barca legend has just won the Qatari Stars League title, as well as the Cup. He has incredible stats of 57 wins in just 92 games. But his latest setback in Asia Champions League has led the Qatari club not to give him a contract extension.

Speculation regarding a change in the dugout at

Barcelona

has intensified on the back of a disappointing 4-1 defeat to

Paris Saint-Germain

in the last-16 of the Champions League.

Xavi, who is a legendary figure at the Camp Nou, has been mentioned as a possible replacement if the Catalan giants were to make a change.

The 41-year-old admits that he wants to head back to his former club at some stage, but he is not looking to oust

Ronald Koeman

from his role.

Xavi made 767 first-team appearances for the Catalan giants and is one of the most decorated players in football history.
