During their close La Liga title race with Atletico and Real Madrid, Barcelona suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Granada on Thursday.

While Lionel Messi gave the Blaugrana the lead in the 23rd-minute, goals from Darwin Machis and  Jorge Molina handed Granada all three points as they fight for a European spot in the La Liga table.

“We’re very sad at the moment,” Frenkie de Jong told his post-match interview.

“It’s normal, and tomorrow will be the same. Then, we have to get up and continue to fight until the end. We have to keep working. In the first half we were good, and we continued to try to create danger in the second half, but it was difficult. They defended very well, and twice they shot, twice they scored.”

Level on points with their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, the Catalan giants are two points away from the league leaders, Atletico as they’ll travel to Valencia on Sunday.
