Asked about his hopes for this year’s campaign, as carried by

“It’s a difficult question.”

“Since my childhood I’ve wanted it to be [Real] Madrid. My family are all for Los Blancos.”

Cardenas’ impressive performance at the Wanda Metropolitano, which made him the first La Liga goalkeeper to make 7 saves against Diego Simeone’s side since 2003-4 season while also keeping a clean-sheet, was only his second appearance in the Spanish league.
