Sergio Aguero will face no punishment over Sian Massey-Ellis incident

won’t face any action for placing his hand over the shoulder of assistant referee Sian Massey-Ellis. It was in the 42nd minute of the first half of

’s Saturday game against

Arsenal

that Aguero unhappy about not been given a throw-in put his hand over the assistant referee’s shoulder which was responded by Massey-Ellis shrugging his hand off of her shoulder. The 32-year-old striker didn’t get penalized for his action by the referee but was criticized for his action after the game. The rules say if touching the official is not done in an aggressive or threatening way then it is not an offence and cannot be punished by a yellow or red card. Even though Aguero won’t face any action for what he did, a lot of people responded to this controversy. During a post- match analysis in BBC’s Match of the Day, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright made his opinion about Aguero’s action: “What was that?! Unnecessary, unnecessarily patronising. It felt really awkward – that did to me.”
