Massimiliano Allegri's Renewed Trust:
Weston McKennie's Journey from Leeds Loan to Serie A Opportunity
Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri initially had reservations about loaning Weston McKennie to Leeds last season but is now affording him a fresh opportunity in Serie A.
McKennie enjoyed regular playing time with Juventus in the previous season but was eventually loaned to Leeds to support their unsuccessful battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League. As reported by Il Bianconero, Allegri had doubts about sending him to Elland Road.
During his time at Leeds, McKennie made 19 appearances in the Premier League and contributed just one assist as the team was relegated to the Championship. Since his return to Turin this season, McKennie has started two Serie A matches and come off the bench in two others, managing one assist in the Italian top-flight thus far.
The United States international initially joined Juventus on loan from
Schalkein 2020 before making the transfer permanent the following year. He inked a four-year contract with the club, committing to the Bianconeri until 2025.
McKennie is expected to play a role in Allegri's squad when they face Sassuolo on Saturday.
