Greenwood Shines at Getafe: A remarkable start

Mason Greenwood, who recently left Manchester United on loan, has reportedly achieved a notable feat at Getafe even before stepping onto the pitch for them.

The 21-year-old forward made the move to Spain after being informed that he doesn't have an immediate future at Old Trafford. Although he remains under contract with Manchester United until 2025, he hasn't played for the Premier League club since January 2022. This extended absence was due to an ongoing internal investigation following his arrest on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control. Fortunately, those charges were dropped in February 2023, clearing the way for Greenwood to resume his professional career.

He joined La Liga's

on a season-long loan deal, and according to the Daily Mail, the club sold more jerseys with 'Greenwood 12' on them within a week of his arrival than for any other player in the club's history.

Approximately 4,000 supporters attended Greenwood's unveiling as a Getafe player, and there's a chance he might make his debut for the club against Osasuna on Sunday.

During his time at Getafe, Greenwood has had dinner with the club's president. Manchester United is providing financial support for his accommodations in Spain, a 24/7 translator, and regular visits from friends and family.

As for his long-term future, no decision has been made beyond the end of the 2023-24 season, and Manchester United continues to cover the majority of his salary.
