Cannavaro: "I saw a growing team"
Italy beat Ukraine in the Euro 2024 qualifying.
's national team defeated Ukraine 2-1 in a Euro 2024 qualifying match. Italy's goals in the game were scored by Davide Frattesi, giving coach Luciano Spalletti his first victory as Italy's manager.
Former captain of the Italian national team, Fabio Cannavaro, told La Gazzetta dello Sport after the game that he saw a growing team.
“I saw a growing team, one in which we are starting to see the influence of Spalletti, one of the best coaches around at international level.”
he said.
“the best we could hope for for the national team. For at least half an hour, we saw an aggressive and very dynamic team, particularly in midfield with Locatelli and Frattesi. The latter, as well as his important goals, showed great growth.
“In the middle, with Barella and also Tonali when he is fit, we have well-distributed quality and physicality. Raspadori up front was fundamental in opening up spaces."
Fabio Cannavaro played 136 games for the Italy national team and scored two goals. He became a champion with Italy in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Italy will play against Malta in their next game.
