Brentford has confirmed the signing with Flekken

Brentford

has confirmed the signing of goalkeeper

Mark Flekken

, the substitute goalkeeper for the Dutch national team, to join the ranks of the English club from

Freiburg

.

Goalkeeper Mark Flekken 29 signed a 4-year contract with Brentford, who finished ninth in the Premier League last season.

Media reports stated that the value of the deal amounted to 13 million euros (13.8 million dollars).

"It is a completely new chapter for me, and it marks a big new step in my career," said goalkeeper Fleckin in statements published by Brentford.

He added, "If someone had told me seven years ago, when I was playing in the third division in Germany, that I would play in the English Premier League one day, I would probably have knocked him down."

Flekken had joined Freiburg in 2018 from

Duisburg

and became one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga (Bundesliga), which saw Freiburg win fifth place last season.

"I spent five wonderful years with Freiburg," Flekken said. "The time I spent there really shaped me, and I'm grateful for what I've reached on a sporting level and on a personal level."

It is expected that Noah Otopolo the reserve goalkeeper for Freiburg and the goalkeeper for the German national youth team (under 21 years old), will replace Flekken as the main goalkeeper for Freiburg.

Freiburg had also allowed German player

Kevin Schade

to move to Brentford last January.

It is expected that

David Raya

the main goalkeeper for Brentford will leave the ranks of the team, as it was reported that a number of clubs including Tottenham, want to include the Spanish goalkeeper.
