Inter Milan beats Benfica in Portugal

Inter Milan defeats Benfica with two clean goals in the first leg of the European Champions League quarterfinals.

achieved an impressive victory at the expense of its host


 with a score of 2-0 in the match that was held in the Portuguese team’s stronghold, "Al-Nour Stadium" in the first leg of the

Champions League


Niccolo Barella

gave Inter the lead with the first goal in the 51st minute, and

Romelu Lukaku

doubled the score from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.

The beginning of the match came calmly from both sides amid defensive caution and in the 8th minute,


almost threatened Benfica's goal after Barella's cross and the Bosnian tried to touch it with his head to pass by the goal.

With Benfica advancing to try to attack and score the equalizer Inter relied on counterattacks, and the Italian team almost reached the second goal after a kick-off and a pass that reached
