"Whistles against Leo Messi are very harsh" - Galtier slams PSG fans

Paris Saint Germain manager Christophe Galtier slammed fans who whistled Lionel Messi against Lyon on Sunday.

PSG

suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Lyon in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Lionel Messi

was whistled by the PSG fans before the game, and was also booed after the home defeat. Messi has scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists this season.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Galtier said,

"Whistles against Leo Messi are very harsh. Leo is a player who gives a lot. He also gave a lot in the first part of the season, but it is also up to other players to have more functions.”

The 35-year-old Messi’s contract with PSG expires at the end of the season, and it seems he is not willing to extend it. The Argentine superstar has been strongly linked with his former team Barcelona in recent weeks. Barcelona's vice-president confirmed on Friday that the Blaugrana are in contact with his father.

PSG has lost three of their last four games. They have been eliminated from the Champions League and are six points clear at the top of the table after 29 matches. Galtier’s side will next take on Nice on Saturday.
