Luis Enrique keen on working in England but Tottenham move unlikely

Luis Enrique desires to work in England but it seems that he is not interested in taking over as the replacement for Antonio Conte at Tottenham

After Spain was eliminated in the last-16 stage of the 2022 World Cup by Morocco, Luis Enrique got sacked. Enrique was then replaced by Luis de la Fuente, who had been leading the Under-21s, leaving Luis Enrique searching for a new job.

Despite being jobless since December, he appears to be patient and not in a hurry to find a new coaching position. Luis Enrique has been linked to several high-profile jobs since leaving his role as the Spain coach after the 2022 World Cup.

Among the clubs he has been most commonly associated with is

, who recently dismissed Antonio Conte. Although Luis Enrique expressed his desire to work in the Premier League during a recent interview, he did not mention Tottenham specifically.

He also indicated that he does not expect to be working in England as early as July, which suggests that the Tottenham job would not be a realistic option for him.

“I would like to go to England to work,”

he told Radio SER Gijon.

“But I don’t see myself in the Premier League in July because I would like to go to a team there that can do important things, and that is very difficult.

“I would not go to [just] any Premier League team.”

Luis Enrique, who has been linked to high-profile jobs, is also among the big names associated with the

job, which was vacated by Tite after the Selecao’s unsuccessful Qatar 2022 campaign.

Although he confirmed that he has received offers from national teams, he seems less interested in returning to the international stage. However, Brazil is not one of the offers he has received.

“I don’t see myself coaching Brazil,”

 he continued.

“Another coach profile fits in there better than mine.

“They haven’t called me. I don’t know if my style fits the best with Brazil.

“I have had offers from national teams, but not from clubs. It would have to be a very important [national] team to take it, although it would be very difficult for me to face Spain. I don’t know if I would be ready.”
