Yaya Toure doesn't sweat having no opportunities following Vieira sacking
Following the sacking of Patrick Vieira by Crystal Palace, there are currently no black managers in the Premier League
Yaya Toure remains optimistic about his future in football management, despite the recent sacking of Patrick Vieira from his position as manager of Crystal Palace.
Toure expressed his disappointment at the dismissal of his formerManchester City
teammate and paid tribute to him during a Football Black List event.
The sacking has led to the absence of black managers in the Premier League.Crystal Palace
replaced Vieira with Roy Hodgson, who is 75 years old and will manage the team until the end of the season.
"Patrick Vieira is a great person, and a great coach as well. I think it's a sad part of it,"
"It's a concern because if you have 50 per cent of the black players playing Premier League, and maybe one or two per cent of managers or coaches are black, it's quite strange."
After retiring from playing football in 2019, Yaya Toure has taken up coaching and worked as an assistant at Olimpik Donetsk and Akhmat Grozny in Ukraine and Russia, respectively. He is currently working for Tottenham's academy since August 2021.
Despite Patrick Vieira's dismissal from Crystal Palace, Toure remains optimistic about his chances of becoming a manager someday and believes that opportunities will come his way.
"I think the Premier League and the FA are working hard to get it right, because for us it's very important,"
"And as well, for me, I can say, I'm confident, to be honest. I'm confident, I'm looking forward, I'm very positive [about] how the opportunities are going to come for me and I'm going to be ready for it."
