"I play to write history", says Mbappe after becoming PSG's all-time leading goalscorer

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe says he plays football to write history after becoming the club's all-time leading goalscorer.

After the match, Mbappe was handed a trophy by the club to celebrate his success.

"I play to write history. I've always said that I wanted to write history in France, in the capital, in my country, in my city,"

he said to Canal+.

"I'm doing it, it's beautiful, but there's still a long way to go. It's a personal accomplishment, but I also came for collective accomplishments."

“It’s very special to be here. The last time I was here was to announce I was staying [extending his contract], it’s an honour to be here as the club’s top scorer,”

said Mbappe.

“It’s a privilege to be a PSG player, to play in this historic shirt, for the biggest club in France.”

Mbappe managed to score 201 goals in just 247 matches. Cavani needed 298 games to establish the previous record in 2020. Mbappe has scored 18 goals in Ligue 1 this season and is the league’s top scorer.

PSG will face Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday. They lost with one goal in the first leg in Paris.
