Mancini is impressed by Wilfried Gnonto's progress at Leeds United
Scoring three goals through 14 senior appearances for Leeds United, the 19-year-old striker has established himself among the key players for the Premier League club. The Azzurri boss hopes more players follow his example.
Giving Wilfried Gnonto his first Italy appearance in June 2022, Roberto Mancini is impressed by the youngster's progress at Leeds United. He told
Sport Mediaset:“
Wilfried is a regular starter in the Premier League, it’s not something to take for granted for a 19-year-old.
“I hope other players will follow his example, going abroad and getting more playing time.”
The Italy boss also talked about Nicolo Zaniolo and how he can benefit from his move to Galatasaray. Mancini himself managed the Turkish giants between 2013 and 2014 and lifted the Turkish Cup in 2013-14.
He said:
“I hope the experience in Turkey will be useful because Nicolò will play for a top team like Galatasaray. When the season resumes, he will play consistently.”
The 23-year-old Zaniolo joined Galatasaray for a fee of €16.5million with significant add-ons. There is also a release clause for Serie A clubs around €35million that can be activated in the summer.
