as a free agent in the summer of 2021. The South American superstar will be out of contract at the end of the season, and PSG wants to extend his contract.

MLS side Inter Miami reportedly is interested in signing Messi and Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta has claimed that he wants to resign Messi, but it remains unclear whether he is open to returning to his old club.

Reports suggest that Messi prefers to stay in Europe beyond the summer, and PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos has confirmed that they are in talks with Messi over extending his contract.

Campos told Telefoot:

“At the moment, we are in discussions with Messi for his extension. I would like to keep him in this project, I can’t hide it. We are talking at the moment to achieve this goal, and continue to have him with us.”

The 35-year-old Messi scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Toulouse on Saturday. PSG is eight points clear at the top of the table after 22 matches. Marseille can close the gap to five points if they win their game in hand.

The World Cup winner has scored 26 goals and provided 28 assists in 57 appearances for PSG. He has scored 14 goals, including 10 goals in Ligue 1.
