Erik ten Hag left furious with the referee over Casemiro red card
The Manchester United boss ten Hag thinks the referee picked on Casemiro in their win against Crystal Palace.
was sent off for choking Crystal Palace midfielder Will Hughes in a clash that happened between two sets of players. The Brazilian midfielder will be suspended for 3 matches which could also go even as high as 6 matches. Despite accepting that Casemiro “crossed the line”, United boss ten Hag believes that the referee should’ve punished Schlupp, who pushed Anthony and was the main reason for the incident to happen.
"We are happy with the win, the team performance and the spirit in the team, [but] we are also not happy with the incident and the sending off of Casemiro,"
Ten Hag said post-match.
"I think many players were involved, and then they're picking one out. A player from Crystal Palace [Schlupp] takes a big risk by causing a big injury [to Antony], as we had last week with Christian Eriksen. So as a team you miss two important players, so the team stands up for each other. You see the togetherness in this team, the spirit, but of course you can't cross the line. There are limits you can't cross, and obviously now we have to take [the suspension]. It's a loss but we have to deal with that."
are now without arguably two of their 2 most important players as Casemiro is suspended while Christian Eriksen is out until April with an ankle injury, which would cause ten Hag huge problems, especially with United’s packed schedule in the upcoming months.
