had the perfect chance to score the winner for the France in the thrilling World Cup final between France and Argentina which was 3-3 at that time but a brilliant save from Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez stopped him and the Albiceleste went on to win the game on penalties. Now the Frankfurt attacker reveals it is a miss he won’t ever forget.
"I still watch it, I know it off by heart. In my head, I said to myself: 'Randal, you have to shoot now'. I tried to shoot towards the near post but the goalkeeper made a very good save. But there were other options,"
Muani said to beIN Sports.
"I could have lobbed him, or find Kylian Mbappe [to the left]. But in the moment, I didn't see him. It's only when you watch back that you discover the other options. It's too late. It still sticks in my throat and it'll be there for life."
The 24-year-old has been on excellent form for
Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 10 and assisting 13 so far, with many big clubs in Europe looking to sign him in the coming summer.
