Antonio Conte thanks supporters after gallbladder surgery

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder on Wednesday as the doctors decided that the Italian coach needs the operation.

After suffering from severe abdominal pain, the

Tottenham

boss was diagnosed with cholecystitis as the club announced the Italian coach needs to undergo surgery. Cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder, and it typically takes about a month to recover fully from surgery to have it removed.

Antonio Conte

posted on Instagram after his surgery:

"Thank you for your lovely messages, my surgery has gone well and I'm already feeling better.

"Now's time to recover, I can't wait to get back on the field with the team."

The Spurs have not confirmed how long Antonio Conte will be away from first-team duties, but he will not be in the dugout for Sunday's game against Manchester City at home. In his absence, his assistant Cristian Stellini is expected to take charge while he is in recovery.
