Wout Weghorst vows to ‘give everything’ for Manchester United as he completes his loan move

The Dutch target man joins Manchester United from Burnley after terminating his loan at Besiktas.

Wout Weghorst has promised to “give Everything” at United following his loan switch from Besiktas to

Manchester United

. Weghorst is still a Burnley player but the Red Devils paid Besiktas a £2.5m compensation fee to Besiktas to terminate his season-long deal and bring him to Old Trafford.

The Dutch international who starred in their quarter-finals match against Argentina where he came on and scored a brace, spent the last season at Burnley but managed only a couple of goals in 20 Premier League appearances. However, his form at Wolfsburg before joining Burnley may be more indicative of his talents

Weghorst

spoke to Manchester United’s media following his move to Old Trafford, saying:

"I feel privileged to be joining Manchester United. I’ve played against the club in the past and it’s a fantastic feeling to now have the chance to pull on the famous red shirt.

“I’ve seen United’s progress under Erik ten Hag this season and can’t wait to start playing my part in pushing the team towards its aims. Whatever happens in the next few months, I can promise to give everything to the club for as long as I am here.

“I thank everyone who has played a part in getting me to this stage, and now I am looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting involved straight away."

The 30-year-old has been brought in to replace Al Nassr-bound Cristiano Ronaldo. With almost 2 meters of height as well as a combative nature, Weghorst can be an asset in the penalty box but whether he thrives in ten Hag’s system or not remains to be seen.
