Replacing Neuer in January would be an ‘extremely difficult’ task for Bayern, according to CEO Kahn

Bayern Munich hasn’t been able to replace Manuel Neuer after his bizarre skiing accident sidelined him for the rest of the season.

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has admitted that replacing Manuel Neuer midway through the season would be “extremely difficult”.

Neuer

was injured while he was on holiday after the World Cup. the 36-year-old suffered a broken leg in a skiing accident.

While

Bayern

are 4 points clear at the top of the table, lack of a solid backup for Neuer could become catastrophic to their campaign but they are looking to sign Gladbach’s impressive shot-stopper, Yann Sommer.

Bayern’s Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has also talked about the possibility of recalling Alexander Nubel from his loan at Monaco while Nubel thinks that such a move “doesn’t make much sense” for him as he is happy at Monaco.

Kahn has told Bild about Bayern’s plans for replacing Neuer, saying:

"We are discussing various options without hesitation.

"But replacing Manuel Neuer during the winter break is of course extremely difficult, especially since not many clubs want to give up their number one goalkeeper."

"Football is a short-term business, we have to think about the here and now.

"We know Manuel. He will give everything he can to get back into top form. And a Manuel Neuer in top form is absolutely world-class."
