Arsenal 0–0 Newcastle United: An Eventful Draw

The Premier League leaders Arsenal hosted the third-placed Newcastle on Tuesday at Emirates Stadium with the Gunners eager to increase their gap at the top of the table. However, the two sides settled on a goalless draw after an eventful match.

Eddie Howe's men had a lot to prove against the Premier League leaders

Arsenal

 

after achieving an unlikely top-fourth place. Moreover, they were eager to reduce the 9-point gap to the top of the table with a victory. Meanwhile, the Gunners wanted to make the most of Manchester City's surprise draw against Everton on Saturday.

The Gunners had most of the possession as Odegaard and Saka had good chances in the first half. The Magpies looked dangerous from counter-attacks and set-pieces as they locked down Arsenal to a goalless draw before the half-time whistle. 

Newcastle United

held on to their away draw in the second half as Arsenal's pressure couldn't break their defensive line.

Arsenal stays at top of the Premier League table with 44 points with Newcastle following them in the third place with 35 points. However, the Magpies are on the same points with 

Manchester United, while

 the Red Devils have one game in hand.
