Brentford 3-1 Liverpool: The Bees shock Liverpool as Klopp’s men fall to inconsistent defending again

An abysmal first half from the Reds handed Thomas Frank’s men a sweet victory at home

Liverpool’s run of wins come to an end as Thomas Frank’s Brentford delivers a serious blow to the Reds’ top 4 chances.

This was the Bees’ first win against Liverpool since 1938 as

Yoane Wissa

and

Bryan Mbuemo

’s goals alongside the own goal Konate scored helped Frank’s men defeat Liverpool.

What makes this win even sweeter for Thomas Frank is the fact that he was without his main striker, Ivan Toney but he still managed to dominate Liverpool, especially in the first half as two goals from Brentford set a gloomy half-time talk for Jurgen Klopp.

The German tactician responded to an own goal and a goal from Wissa in the first half with 3 half-time substitutions to try and salvage their 4-match winning streak.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain then scored on a Trent Alexander-Arnold pass to keep the hope alive for Klopp’s men but ultimately Mbuemo managed to score in the final minutes of the game to kill off any chances of comeback for Liverpool.

This puts an end to Liverpool’s rather good form recently as Klopp’s men fail to win for the 5th consecutive time. Brentford moves up to 7th, just two points behind sixth-place Liverpool.
