FFF president believes Didier Deschamps will stay as France coach

The French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet believes Didier Deschamps will stay as France coach.

France

reached the World Cup final for a second consecutive tournament but they lost against Argentina on penalties after a memorable 3-3 draw in Doha.

Didier Deschamps’ contract will expire at the end of the month and he refused to discuss his future following the defeat in the final.

During the

World Cup

, the French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet said he wants to extend

Deschamps

' contract and they are set to meet each other next week to decide his future.

“I haven’t thought about the fact that Didier could leave. Some journalists want things to change, but I’m not easily swayed with regard to that kind of thing.

"Didier has done his job well, he has priority, and I think we will agree [to carry on],"

Le Graet told Ouest-France.

"We are already going to spend some time together to talk a bit about what happened in Qatar and how we are already considering the 2024 European Championship.

"If he does not want to stay, it will be a very short [meeting]. If he wants to stay, there will be slightly longer discussions.

"It would be good if we can complete this [process around the decision] before the end of the year."

Deschamps was appointed as France's manager in 2012 and since then they have reached the World Cup finals twice and also the 2016 Euro final. They have also won the 2018 World Cup and a Nations League title.

Rumor has it that if Deschamps decides to leave his job, former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane will replace him.
