Pele to stay at hospital for Christmas to receive additional care

Brazilian legend’s daughter announced that Pele’s cancer has advanced and he needs greater care.

Pele’s condition has worsened and it leads to his family keeping the 82-year-old Brazilian legend in hospital for Christmas receiving greater care.

Pele has had colon cancer since 2021 and the condition has led to several other problems like renal and cardiac dysfunctions for the three-time World Cup winner. He has had a tumor rumored in September of 2021 but it hasn’t drastically changed his health conditions.

Now his daughter Kely Nascimento has revealed on Instagram that the

great will be spending Christmas in hospital.

"Our Christmas at home has been suspended. We decided with the doctors that, for various reasons, it would be better for us to stay here with all the care that this new family at Einstein gives us.

"Your love for him, his stories and his prayers are a HUGE comfort because we know we are not alone."

In regards to Pele’s help, the hospital reports:

"Edson Arantes do Nascimento [Pele] presents progression of the oncological disease and requires greater care related to renal and cardiac dysfunctions.

"The patient remains hospitalised in a common room, under the necessary care of the medical team."
