Messi: "I want to keep playing for Argentina as World Cup champions"

After bitterly losing the 2014 World Cup final to Germany, Lionel Messi led Argentina to the World Cup final again in Qatar where they beat France in the penalties. The Argentina hero thanks God for the achievement.

"It's crazy that it happened this way. I wanted it very much.

"I knew that God was going to give it to me, I had a feeling that it was going to be this way. Now to enjoy. Look at this cup, it's beautiful. We suffered a lot but we made it.

“We can't wait to be in Argentina and to see how crazy it's going to be. This was the trophy I have wanted all of my life. This was my dream since childhood."

Ruling out retirement from the international football, Messi said:

“No, I’m NOT gonna retire from the national team. I want to keep playing as World Cup champions with Argentina shirt.”

The Argentine previously won the 2014 World Cup Golden Ball, however, he completed the job in Qatar as he not only scored a brace but also scored Argentina's first penalty.
