Cody Gakpo gives his verdict on Manchester United

There have been an impressive number of rumors linking PSV and Netherlands youngster Cody Gakpo to a number of Premier League clubs, especially Manchester United, and he has finally broken his silence on what he thinks of those rumors.

Many predicted Gakpo to be the breakout star in the World Cup and the PSV winger has done just that, scoring 3 goals for Netherlands and carrying them at times to the quarter-finals of the tournament where they’ll meet Argentina.

Alongside Gakpo’s outstanding performances for Netherlands, the rumor wheel has been turning and there have been a lot of reports linking him with Manchester United as well as any clubs with potential Champions League football.

When asked about missing out on Champions League football with

earlier this year, as well as not getting his preferred move to the Premier League, Gakpo said:

"That was tough.

"I've learned a lot from that. Next time I'll do it differently. I thought about

before, but when that didn't happen I didn't know anymore and started to doubt.

"Then Leeds United came and I wondered if I should go there. Now I'll wait for everything. I haven't heard from Manchester United yet, but when they come, I'll think about it."

was then asked about the potentially intense match Netherlands are about to have with Argentina who have Lionel Messi on their side, to which he replied:

"We shouldn't think only about him. We need to win and it doesn't matter who we are facing.

"Argentina are here for one reason and so are we. We are aware we have to play better than them, and we can do that.

"But in a tournament like this, all that counts is the result. We have to find the right moments on the field to use each other's strengths."
