Cristiano Ronaldo ‘agrees £173m-a-year’ deal with Saudi side Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to agreeing a £173m per year deal with Saudi club Al Nassr.

According to

Marca,

Cristiano Ronaldo

is set to sign a £173 million-a-year contract with the Saudi club Al Nassr after the World Cup. Marca claims that the 37-year-old forward will sign a two and a half year deal with the Saudi side.

Al Nassr's current manager is Rudi Garcia who previously coached Roma, Marseille, and Lyon. David Ospina, Luiz Gustavo, and Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar are big-name stars who play for Al Nassr.

Manchester United recently terminated Ronaldo’s contract with mutual consent following his controversial TV interview with Piers Morgan. Ronaldo criticised the lack of progress at the club since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement and revealed he does not respect Erik ten Hag. He also claimed the Glazers do not care about Manchester United.

The

Portugal

international wanted to leave Manchester United in the summer and join a team in the Champions League but the club did not receive any acceptable offer and hence he stayed at Old Trafford.

In his interview Ronaldo confirmed that a Saudi team wanted to sign him last summer with a £306m offer but he preferred to stay at European football.

As for the 2022

World Cup

, Portugal has qualified for the round of 16 with wins against Ghana and Uruguay. They will face South Korea in their last group match on Friday. Ronaldo scored against Ghana from the penalty spot to become the first man to score at five World Cups.
