Kramaric after beating Canada: "Croatia demonstrated who 'F'd whom"

Croatia dominated their Qatar 2022 tie with Canada as they beat the Canadians 4-1 after Canada's coach told his team to "F' Croatia". Kramaric, who scored twice against Canada, says Herdman motivated the Russia World Cup runner-ups.

The World Cup 2018 runner-ups were the favorites while Canada showed a promising side in their defeat to Belgium as they attempted 22 shots in their defeat. Against all the odds,

Canada

scored the opener in the second minute of the match through Alphonso Davies.

However, though the Canadians defended their lead for around half an hour,

Croatia

scored the equalizer in the 36th minute after Perisic played a pass into the box for

Kramaric

, and finished with confidence. Goals from Livaja, Majer and another from Kramaric sealed Croatia a well-earned 4-1 victory over Canada.

Andrej Kramaric thanked John Herdman in his post-match interview for motivating his side.

"I want to thank the Canada coach for the motivation,"

said Kramaric.

"In the end, Croatia demonstrated who 'F'd' whom."

Herdman

later

defended his comments:

"No, not at all,"

he said.

"There's definitely a respect there for Croatia.

"As I keep saying, we're here to push as far as we can, here to change the mentality of the group. I could have been more composed coming out of the huddle, and that's part of my learning.

"I think we showed in the first 25 minutes that little Canada can compete with the best in the world.

"I don't think we gave [Croatia] an easy night. They deserved it, but we made them work for it."
