England concern as Harry Kane set for ankle scan

England captain Harry Kane will have a scan on his right ankle after picking up a knock against Iran.

According to the English press,

Harry Kane

will undergo a scan on his ankle ahead of England's

World Cup

match with USA on Friday.

Kane picked up an ankle knock three minutes into the second half of the match against Iran on Monday. He stayed on the pitch until the 75th minute and was replaced by Callum Wilson.

After the game,

England

's captain was walking with his right ankle lightly strapped, and with a slight limp and missed the training on Tuesday.

After the match England’s manager Gareth Southgate said Kane’s injury is not serious.

He said:

“I think Harry’s fine. It looked like a bad tackle but he carried on in the game. We took him off because we felt it was a moment in the game we could do that.”

Kane's injury is a concern for Southgate as he has previously experienced problems with his ankles but Guardian reports that England is optimistic that Kane will be available for the match against the United States.

Kane failed to score in England’s 6-2 win over Iran but provided two assists. The 29-year-old striker has scored 51 goals in 76 matches for England and needs just three more goals to become England’s all-time record goalscorer.

England is at top of Group B with 3 points. Wales and the United States both have one point. The three lions will face the United States on Friday and Wales will play Iran the same day.
