Pulisic and Adams are adamant of their chances against England

USA may have been set back by Gareth Bale’s equalizer last night, but captain Adams and Christian Pulisic are confident that they will beat England

After being absent in 2018, USA started their return to World Cup strongly only to be pegged back to a draw by Wales in the final 10 minutes of the match. However, USMNT stars Adams and Pulisic believe that they could go and win the next match against

USA controlled much of the first half and deservedly got a goal when Timothy Weah finished a chance provided by Chelsea star Christian Pulisic. USA also hit the bar once in the first half whilst controlling 66.7% of the possession.

However, Wales came alive in the latter 30 minutes of the game and got their reward when Gareth Bale was brought down in the penalty box by Zimmerman. Bale took the penalty himself and scored to make it all level again, earning a point for Wales.

Despite the disheartening draw, star Christian Pulisic still believes that they still could beat England.

"Absolutely. I think we have a good enough team to make it out of this group,"

Pulisic told the press.

"England is our next test, we've got to be aggressive and go to win the game."

captain Tyler Adams shared the same sentiments, saying: "

Yeah, I think we match up well against them.

"Football is a game of inches, it comes down to mistakes or minimal details. We're obviously going to try and execute our game plan.

"We trust in the coach's ability to set us up well, but they're very flexible as well. At the end of the day it comes down to certain moments."

Pulisic pointed out to the nervy atmosphere the young USA team had going into the match and how it affected them, saying: "

The nerves were there, we were all excited, but now we have to take this experience into the next one.

"There's a lot of positives from the game in general. The team looks good. Now we have to figure out how to put that together for 90 minutes.

"A point in the first game is better than none. We have to move on, learn from this, it's a lot from our first game.

"I want to win. I'm very competitive. I love this team so much, I'm honoured to play in a World Cup for my country so the least I can do is give it all that I have."
