Arteta wants Arsenal to be active in January transfer window

The Premier League front runners will be looking to boost their title chances by recruiting in January according to Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners have been firing this season and are top of the

league

heading into the last game before the World Cup. Arteta’s men will play

Wolves

on Saturday in Molineux Stadium and the Spaniard was singing his men’s praises before the match.

Arsenal

have punched above their weight so far this season but their lack of squad depth will be a problem sooner or later and the Gunners’ chief was quick to accept that fact.

"

Some of the players and the experience they have is not the biggest, but we have competed in an impressive way up to now with the numbers we have,"

Arteta said in his Friday’s press conference.

"Of course, we can improve the team, we will always be looking to do that as a club. This window is unpredictable, especially with the World Cup in the middle. We will have a look and will try to make the squad stronger.

"We will be active because you don't know what will happen in the World Cup, touch wood, everyone will be ok."

Arsenal have been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk's Mykhalo Mudryk as well as Orlando City's Facundo Torres and Palmeiras' Danilo. They were also very close to signing Douglas Luiz on deadline day but the deal fell away.

"We pick the players that we believe have the qualities and personalities to be helpful and successful at our club,"

he added.

"If they are valuable to the national team as well, in this case England, then it is much better."

Arteta also praised his players that will be representing their countries in the World Cup:

"One of my players will win the World Cup, I hope so,"
