Juventus joins Barcelona in summer chase for Jorginho

With only one year remaining on his Chelsea contract, it’s been reported earlier that Jorginho wants to move at the end of his contract with Barca appearing as a pursuer. Reportedly, Barca has to defeat Juventus in signing the Italy international.

Winning Europa League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with the London club,

Jorginho

joined Chelsea from Napoli in 2018 as he established himself as one of the club’s key members during his spell. He made 47 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season and scored nine goals, all of them from the penalty spot.

However, with the Italy international entering the final year of his contract this summer,

Juventus

and Barcelona will go toe-to-toe for his signature as neither is reportedly willing to cover his €13.6m annual demands, according to reports from

Sport

.

Barcelona

is interested to lure the Italian away from Chelsea next summer on a pattern similar to the free transfers of Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie, with the club's sporting director Mateu Alemany considering the Euro 2022 winner as Sergio Busquets' replacement in the Blaugrana's line-up. Despite being one of Italy's key players at Euro 2020 and was also included in the Team of the Tournament, Jorginho was to blame for Italy's absence from this November's World Cup as he missed a crucial penalty in their final qualifier against Switzerland.
