Zinchenko wants Arsenal to break stereotypes and compete for the title

Arsenal new boy, Oleksandr Zinchenko wants Arsenal to aim higher than the top four and compete for the title

Following a historic start to the 2022-23 Premier League season, which is Gunners’ best ever league start in their 136-year history, their new left back wants

Arsenal

to break the stereotype of going for the top four and instead compete for the league title, something which Zinchenko believes the club and fans deserve.

The Gunners continued their fine form this season as they felled yet another top 6 opponents, winning away against Chelsea in what was their third consecutive victory at Stamford Bridge. They now hold a 2-point lead over Manchester City with the PL coming to a temporary stop following this week’s matches and just before the World Cup.

The four-time Premier League winner

Zinchenko

who joined the Gunners this summer from

Manchester City

talked to the reporters following the Chelsea game:

"It starts in the dressing room and it's on the pitch as well.

"We are trying to push each other, we are trying to help each other. I think this is the right way to do it.

"We have a dream, we believe that we can achieve something this season. Let's see what is going to happen.

"I can feel that this group of people, they are special. Starting from our staff and then all the people on our training ground, our fans, we believe in ourselves, every single game.

"I got used to hearing that Arsenal were top four. I would say that I really want to kill and destroy this stereotype.

"We need to look further, and I think this team, this group of people, the fans, they deserve more. That's what we need to do. We need hard work in this and let's see at the end of season.

"You ask me if we can challenge Manchester City. Of course, they are an amazing team, but you never know what can happen in football. We need to go step by step with every single game."

Arsenal will be going into Gameweek 15, knowing that their 34-points tally is one higher than Wenger’s famous Invincibles collected in ther Premier League winning season of 2003-04 at a similar stage.
