Barcelona manager Xavi says they failed to reach the next stage in the Champions League because they didn't take their opportunities.

match on Tuesday. Bayern and Inter managed to qualify for the next round and Xavi’s side now will play in the Europe League.

After the game, Xavi said they didn't take their opportunities during the group-stage games and that cost them qualification.

He said:

”First half, I liked how we played. Even so, we allowed them to create too many chances. Defensively, we are struggling more than normal. In attack, we were good.”

"The overall evaluation of our group campaign has to be negative. We had qualification in our own hands and didn't manage it. We didn't take our opportunities."

"Now we are candidates for the Europa League. it's a beautiful competition and we will fight to win it.”

Franck Kessie left the pitch in the 70th minute after suffering an injury. Pablo Torre who made his first start also was forced to leave the pitch.

Xavi said:

“Kessié is bad and pissed off because he has hurt his pelvis. I think that until the injury he was good. He was good in the air, in bringing the ball out… But he has had the bad luck of the injury.”

“Pablo played well. The game was difficult for the midfielders. They had to attack spaces and it is not his main quality. He has other qualities but he understood his role well and ended up making it 2-4 by attacking space. He has cramps, but nothing serious.”
