The players couldn't hear me because it was so loud; says Marseille manager Tudor

Marseille manager, Igor Tudor, says they lost against Tottenham in the Champions League because his players could not hear his instructions.

conceded a late goal and lost 2-1 against Tottenham in the

Champions League

on Tuesday. They were set to finish in the third spot in Group D with a draw but

late goal changed the table and Marseille finished at the bottom.

Marseille manager Tudor tried to warn his players and even run on the pitch to ask them to stay back but Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg managed to score for Tottenham in the 95th minute.

"They didn't hear, because there was so much noise,"

Tudor told RMC Sport.

"I told them to stay back, not to push on, but they didn't hear. There was confusion in the last minute. It wasn't about results, it was about telling them to stay put, not to go all up.

"We didn't start the second half well. We dropped off for the first 10, 15 minutes, conceded a goal, and then we started again. We dominated for 75 minutes, but it clearly was not enough."

Tottenham finished as the group winner, Frankfurt also qualified for the next round and Sporting Lisbon will play in the Europe League.

Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba who scored for them against Tottenham said a lack of communication cost them this match.

"On the field, we didn't know, but on the bench, people knew,"

he said.

"It's a lack of communication. We have the desire to push until the end, but we didn't know. It's a mistake."
