Benitez points out important players in Napoli vs Liverpool clash
Rafa Benitez who managed both Napoli and Liverpool previously, has named the key players in the teams’ upcoming clash in the Champions League this week
The Spanish tactician has talked about theNapoli
vs Liverpool clash in the Gameweek 6 of Champions League which takes place at Anfield, and has also talked about his desire to return to coaching.
In a recent interview with Il Corriere Dello Sport, Benitez talked about Tuesday’s Champions League match between his two former clubs, stating:
“If I could, I’ll surely go to watch the game and greet my friends on both sides,”
the Spanish coach said.
“Napoli are doing extraordinary things and this makes me happy for the President, the fans and Spalletti. He is proving that experience, professionalism, study and passion can lead to great results.”
Whilst Napoli is prospering, Liverpool seem to be at the end of an era, since the Reds have had a tough time of it recently, especially in the Premier League, suffering two back to back losses to Nottingham and Leeds United. But Benitez is hopeful of their situation and whether their winning ways are over or not.
“They have a great team and coach, a solid club structure and a fanbase that supports the team unconditionally. They will keep winning, but they have to consider that competition in the Champions League and Premier League will keep improving.”
Speaking about the important players on both sides, Benitez pointed outSalah
and Alisson as “central figures” forLiverpool
as well as naming Osimhen, Kvara and Lobotka as important for Napoli. He talked a bit about his future plans as well.
“I want to coach at a high level, perhaps the fact that I coached some of the best teams in the top leagues reduces my options, but I love new challenges.”
