Xavi believes Barcelona will not give up on CL qualification

Barcelona has little chance to advance to the next round, but the Spanish head coach still hopes for his team's promotion.

Barcelona head coach Xavi claimed that he still hopes for his team's promotion to the knockout round of the Champions League.

Barcelona suffered a defeat and a draw in their last two matches against Inter in the Champions League, and this issue has taken the fate of promotion out of their hands. If the Blaugrana lose against Bayern Munich, or Inter win against Viktoria Plzen, or if both games are tied, Xavi's side will fail to advance to the knockout stage for the second year in a row. However, Xavi is hoping that the results will go in his team's favor and they will still have a chance to advance to the next round.

"We will all watch the game together in the locker room,

" Xavi told reporters

. "Regardless of what happens, we want to show we can compete.

"I already decided on the line-up on Monday, except for any injuries that occur. This is all regardless of what happens in the Inter game."

Barcelona have lost nine of their 12 matches against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but Xavi believes the Blaugrana can win the next match. He added:

"It's not so much that we require a miracle, because we have a slight bit of hope. We know it doesn't all depend on us, making it an uncomfortable situation.

"But we know that regardless of what happens in Milan, we face an important match. We have to beat Bayern to show we can compete at this level.

"While there is a little hope we must not lose it. We have done our homework. This competition is being cruel to us, but it's the reality we face."
