PSG manager Christophe Galtier explains Neymar role change

Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has explained why he changed Neymar's role despite his outstanding form this season.

Paris Saint-Germain

will face Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League on Tuesday. PSG is at top of the group with 8 points ahead of Benfica because of scoring more goals. Juventus and Maccabi both have 3 points after 4 matches.

has scored 10 goals and provided 7 assists this season but Galtier in the last two matches has changed his position and moved him inside from the wing.

"We changed the system for different reasons,"

he said ahead of Tuesday's game against Maccabi Haifa.

"We played two games in this formation.

"Whatever the formation, you always have to run, and even if tomorrow [Tuesday] we have to evolve in this formation, we need the efforts of each other.

"But it is true that it is more precise defensively for the player who plays under both strikers."

Galtier does not rule out returning to previous formations with three center backs at the back.

He added:

"Do not think that the three centre-back system has been abandoned. It is an advantage to have two formations, two systems."

Galtier also talked about Tuesday's game and said Maccabi is a very organised side with the thechnical players.

He said:

"As soon as we saw the draw, we worked a lot on our opponents. Including Maccabi Haifa, who we rarely see play. They are a very well-organised side, with a lively and alert style, very technical players, and a coach who looks to play very intense, very attacking football.

It's not by chance that we were forced to opt for a specific set-up in the first match against them. We then saw all of their quality. From the analysis that we have conducted, there are very dangerous players, like Chery, who is very strong technically, and Atzili, who breaks the lines and is very adept in front of goal."
