Fiorentina-Inter: Valeri faces one-week ban following poor refereeing

Paolo Valeri will be banned for the next Serie A gameweek due to his mistakes during Fiorentina's 4-3 loss to Inter.

In August, when

Atalanta

and

Milan

played to a 1-1 draw,

Paolo Valeri

made some massive mistakes that made headlines due to their impact on the game.

He operated as the VAR that day and later admitted Hans Hateboer should have received a red card for lunging into

Rafael Leao

but instead suggested an on-field review.

Several incidents occurred while Valeri was on the field yesterday night at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, but the most contentious was his decision to not even issue a yellow card to Federico Dimarco for his knee-high tackle on

Giacomo Bonaventura

.

Valeri had an on-field review to determine whether or not to award a penalty, yet he only issued a yellow card instead of the expected red.

The refereeing designator has assessed Valeri's performance and decided to bench him for the next Serie A game, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. There is never a formal announcement when an official is removed from future game assignments; instead, they simply aren't assigned.
