Conte says Spurs players are growing he is very proud of them

After Tottenham beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday, Antonio Conte praised Tottenham's growth.

In

Antonio Conte

's 50th match as Spurs manager, the Toffees played a stubborn first half and were lucky not to fall down after Amadou Onana and Demarai Gray missed great chances.

Tottenham won after halftime. Spurs' shape adjustment and

Yves Bissouma

's debut shocked Everton after Richarlison's injury.

Harry Kane

's penalty and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's late goal broke the tie after

Jordan Pickford

's error.

Everton

had 0 shots on target and no second-half shots. Spurs' win tied them with second-placed Manchester City, who play Liverpool on Sunday, and one point behind league leaders

Arsenal

, who play Leeds United.

"We have to be really happy, because we played a good game, created a lot of chances and we had an injury during the game with Richy, for sure this situation could create something negative,"

Conte told Sky Sports.

"Instead, we found the right solution with three midfielders, I liked the attitude. We started the game very well, maybe in the first half we had to pay more attention because we conceded two counter-attacks, we could do much better, but in the end we deserved the win. We have to continue this way."

"I'm really pleased, despite the difficulty of the game, of the opponent and a bad injury, we were able to solve the situation. It means the players are growing in many aspects, not only tactical but also to face the difficulties. This makes me very proud of my players."

Conte, meanwhile, is joint-second among Tottenham managers with 30 wins in his first 50 matches. The Italian has kept seven Premier League clean sheets against Everton.
