Milan must learn from mistakes & do better, Pioli before Chelsea clash
The Rossoneri boss promised that his side will “show something different” when they lock horns with the Blues tomorrow and also said that Junior Messias will be available for selection.
Milan are getting ready for their next clash, which is going to be against Chelsea, after their 2-0 victory over Juventus in Serie A on Saturday. On Tuesday, they will host the Blues for the Champions League clash a week after their 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Premier League side at Stamford Bridge.
“It’s fantastic to play in front of our fans, they give us great support, they are an extra weapon for us,”
Stefano Pioli
said at a press conference as quoted by Milannews.
“We want to prove that the defeat was just a case, not normality. We were disappointed with the performance in London. We must learn from our mistakes and do better.”
Charles De Ketelaere will not be in action for his side as he sustained a minor injury, while Junior Messias started training against this morning and he will be available for the battle against Chelsea tomorrow.
“Charles has had a muscle issue, tomorrow he won’t be available and it’s hard to see him back on Sunday; Messias will be called up against Chelsea,”
said Pioli.
“We need a high-level performance against a strong team. We should not be worried, tomorrow is another match and we must try to be at our level.”
The Serie A champions boss was asked whether his side will be defending more tomorrow.
“It could be, but it’s not sure. It depends on the assessment we made after the previous games. I have my ideas, tomorrow, we’ll show something different.”
Chelsea and Milan are behind RB Salzburg in Group E with a one-point difference.
“It’s a balanced group, but we should not look at it. We must think about the result without wasting energy.”
Sergino Dest, the Barcelona loanee, did not impress when they went against Chelsea last week and will not be in the starting XI for tomorrow’s clash. The Milan boss was quizzed if he might develop like Diogo Dalot who slowly made his way into the starting lineup during his spell at Milan.
“I don’t know if they can be compared,”
the Rossoneri boss admitted.
“Dest was accustomed to a different style, he needs time to adapt, but I believe in his qualities. His moment will come soon.”
