Pioli admits Milan made many errors against Chelsea

The Rossoneri boss revealed that his side made a lot of unforced mistakes, particularly in a Champions League match, but he is hoping that their 3-0 loss is going to ‘help us to grow and find even more determination.’

Milan were without 12 of their players due to injury and squad restrictions, so many of their players are out of action, but their poor performance against Chelsea has no excuse. Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reece James met the back of the net for Chelsea to help their side with the battle against Milan 3-0. The only genuine attack Milan had was near the half-time when Charles De Ketelaere shot straight at the shot-stopper.

“We should’ve done better, that’s for sure. We didn’t start badly, but then lost our shape and made errors even without their press, so when you make this many mistakes against an opponent of that quality, it becomes complicated,”

The absentees are irrelevant, I thought the team was ready to play this game and knew the dangers, but despite that we kept losing the ball straight away or making the wrong pass, so allowed too much space to Chelsea.

“Defeats must help us to grow, to find even more determination and concentration. It’s a bad defeat, that is for sure, but we have the opportunity to prove what kind of a team we are on Saturday.”

Milan will lock horns with Juventus in Serie A to keep up with Napoli and Atalanta, who lead the table with the same amount of points. Theo Hernandez is probably going to be back for their return clash against the Blues next week.

“The squad was naturally disappointed, angry that they didn’t put in the best performance, but that will motivate us for the future.”
