The racist abuse ofVinicius Junior
fans before Sunday's derby at the Wanda Metropolitano has been denounced by La Liga. La Liga will investigate the events and deliver a report to the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee.
President of the Spanish Agents association, Pedro Bravo, caused controversy last week after he said to Vinicius to "stop playing the monkey" on the TV show El Chiringuito. Vinicius reacted to Bravo and condemned what he described as racist criticism.
A group of Atletico fans were filmed chanting racist slogans towardReal Madrid
star before the game at the Metropolitano stadium.
A LaLiga spokesperson said:
"We denounce all incidents inside and outside stadiums. We work with clubs to keep our football friendly and enjoyable.
"Hate speech has no place in La Liga and we always work with the clubs and the authorities to identify and bring to justice any such case.”
Madrid’s mayor also has said those responsible should not be allowed to return to football stadiums in Spain.
“There is no place for them, not just at a sporting event but in any sphere of life,”
“What I think has to be done is for these people to be identified because I don’t think they deserved to be allowed in. It is absolutely reproachable and must be condemned.
“I say this as mayor of Madrid but also, as you know, as an Atlético fan. It ashames me that there should be Atlético fans capable of shouting that type of racist abuse.”
Real Madrid beat Atletico 2-1 on Sunday to continue their perfect start to the season and stays at top of the table with 18 points after six games.
