Jesus dedicates his goal celebration to Vinicius after harsh criticism

Gabriel Jesus, after celebrating Arsenal's win with some spinning dance movements, dedicated them to his Brazil teammate Vinicius Junior.

After

Real Madrid

winger

Vinicius Junior

was the target of a statement with apparent racist overtones from a Spanish football agent, Arsenal's

Gabriel Jesus

dedicated his celebration to the Brazilian.

Pedro Bravo

's comments on

El Chiringuito

, in which he reportedly told Vinicius to cease dancing in order to "respect your mates and stop playing the monkey," have sparked widespread backlash.

Pele, Neymar,

Bruno Guimaraes

, and Jesus were just a few of the Brazilian superstars that came to Vinicius' defense after the Newcastle United midfielder said Bravo should be "jailed" for his comments about the Madrid forward.

When Jesus scored in Sunday's 3-0 victory over Brentford, he did not do his normal "phone rings" celebration but ran to the corner flag and danced in honor of Vinicius.

After Brazil's win at Brentford Community Stadium, the attacker told Sky Sports that his celebration was in honor of an international teammate.

"The celebration was for my guy Vinicius Junior, it needs to stop and it was for him,"

he said.

Jesus has contributed seven goals this season (4G, 3A) in the Premier League, only to Erling Haaland's (12) total for

Manchester City

. Jesus praised Aubameyang and Ramsey for a record-setting start to their Arsenal careers, in which the pair had each scored seven goals and assisted on another's in Premier League action.

"From the start we showed what we want to do in the game, create chances and score. That is what I believe we did,"

he said.

"[Granit Xhaka] found me for the goal and I am so happy to play with him, he is an intelligent and quality player."

With the win over their London rivals, Arsenal retook first place in the Premier League, one point ahead of Manchester City and Tottenham. Xhaka is confident that his squad has improved since last year.

"We have a different mentality this season. We kept going and are training like we play and have class with the players that can make a difference," Xhaka said. You have the class in the front and they make the difference. I am more than happy we are in a good way but we have a long way to go."
