Didier Deschamps has injury concerns ahead of his team's defense of their World Cup title, with Paul Pogba a huge question mark.

Didier Deschamps

, manager of

, believes

Paul Pogba

"will do everything to recover as quickly as possible" before the World Cup. Still, he acknowledges that time is not on the midfielder's side.

Pogba had surgery to repair damage to his external meniscus in early September and will miss the next six weeks of action. With the World Cup in

less than three months away, the 29-year-participation old's is now in serious doubt. But Deschamps is confident that Pogba will do everything in his power to get better, as he told Telefoot:

"I know Paul well; he will do everything to recover as quickly as possible and be with us in November. But the timing is short. He will come provided he is fit and in competitive mode."

Although he rejoined Juventus in July after signing a free agent deal from

Manchester United

, Pogba is yet to play in a competitive match. Even before the midfielder's injury, Deschamps was sure he wouldn't travel with an unfit player to Qatar on Thursday.

"If he is recovered, it would be a very good thing. He won't come if he's not fit. He doesn't want that either. It's inconceivable. The number of players who will be there, they will all be ready to play."

Not only did Deschamps leave out Paul Pogba from France's forthcoming

Nations League

matches against Austria and Denmark, but he also had to leave out Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante, and Presnel Kimpembe. The 2018 World Cup champions have a long way to go after starting the Nations League with a 2-2 record in Group A1.
