Grealish thanks Pep Guardiola after his first City goal of the season

Jack Grealish scored his first goal of the season in City’s 3-0 away Premier League victory over Wolves on Saturday. Jack Grealish thanked Pep Guardiola for keeping trust in him despite his slow beginning to the season.

The England international was on target again for

Manchester City

and helped them sit first on the Premier League table after their 3-0 win over Wolves, Haaland and Foden scored Man City's other goals while Nathan Collins received a red card for a challenge on Grealish in the 33-rd minute of the match.

In his second season after a £100million from Aston Villa,

Jack Grealish

opened up the scoresheet after 55 seconds when he tapped in Kevin De Bruyne's perfect cross.

Netting his first goal since a 2-2 draw with West Ham in May, Grealish thanked

Pep Guardiola

in his post-match interview with

BT Sport

:<em>

"It was a long time coming and nice to get off the mark. Rightly so, people have been asking questions, I should be scoring more and getting more assists.

"I am always going to have people talking about me with the money that was spent on me, but all my career I haven't scored enough goals. I do want to add that to my game.

"It is nice when Pep defends me. He has been brilliant with me. I probably have to thank him because he gave me the opportunity today after my performance on Wednesday because it probably wasn't the best. I am thankful to him."

Saluting his talisman, Grealish,

Guardiola

said:

"The game started really well for us with the two goals and the red card.

"After the Champions League, to come here with the quality they have – they can keep the ball and transitions are fast – it was an incredible victory.

"We struggled a lot after half-time until Phil's goal, so a lot of credit to Wolves.

"Jack played really good. He was strong and he made a good goal coming in. Hopefully, he can make a good international performance and come back fit."

After the upcoming international break, City will be back in action when they face

Manchester United

on October 2. Guardiola added: "

Fingers crossed, all the players come back fit.

"It is important for them ahead of the World Cup, but hopefully they come back good, ready for the derby."
